I have to admit that it was somewhat nice to take a week away from golf last week and enjoy some college and professional football. That being said, I am really looking forward to this weekend and next. There are only two events left on the PGA Tour and I’m sure most fantasy golf leagues are still up for grabs. I’ll do my best to not give absolutely terrible advice over the next two weeks.
Last week Rickie Fowler came away with the victory at the Deutsche Bank Championship. The Monday finish was really a two horse race with only Fowler and Stenson having a chance to win. It’s been an up and down season for Fowler…he’ll win one week and miss the cut the next. He was coming off a missed cut at The Barclays and then won the Deutsche Bank so I’m really not sure what to expect from him this week.
The BMW Championship is being held at Conway Farms this year as it was in 2013. I’m not sure course history is very reliable since there is only one tournament to go off of. The course plays as a par 71 and will be close to 7,200 yards. The par 5s are long but everything else looks pretty typical. I’m focusing on the most generic stats this week (strokes gained tee to green and par 4 scoring) and recent performance. Tournament performance in 2013 might be a tiebreaker of sorts if a few guys look very similar. Here is what my data analysis came up with…
Underrated: Zach Johnson, Rickie Fowler, Matt Jones
Overrated: Bubba Watson, Robert Streb, Paul Casey, Brendan Steele, Jason Bohn
