- Not for the HIGH Handicap
Received my irons in time and as expected. Irons look very very good as the chrome parts of the head were really polished nice. The shafts are on the heavy side as they are 130g super stiff shafts. Went to the range and hit them against my old NIKE Slingshots (super game improving set) and I noticed a loss in distance. The irons are indeed harder to hit as they are tour irons, BUT, this is a big BUT - when and if you hit them right, bam! The flight is super high (which I like) and the balls seems to have this booming feel. It is much softer almost like a forged so the pure hits feel like butter. This is for the player that can hit his 9 iron 145-155 as the shafts require good swing speed. I've got a lot of work to do with my swing and I feel as though this clubs helps you work on it. Why? Because it isnt as forgiving BUT super rewarding on pure shots. Now, vs the AP2's, these are a lot easier to hit. Which is why I got them. PLUS the deal was awesome!
- Nice Irons, still early but some issues
Hit them twice at the range and once on the course. It was my 3rd round in the last year, and my 3rd round in the last 10. Shot a 51-42, including a terrible 7 on 18. Couldn't believe i could get in the zone like that, but there was a real sense of being able to trust the club.
Wedges are a little shorter than i would like. Will probably get both strengthened at least a degree at some point. Ball flight seems a bit high - i hit a pretty high ball anyway - but i only really felt it cost me distance in the wedges.
Also my first time playing clubs that are longer and more upright, so i have to attribute the clubs with a good deal of my scoring. Mishits still get close, way better than before. I have bum wrists so sometimes take too thin a divot and catch the ball low on the clubface, which these irons are specifcally designed to account for. Also felt like less pain after playing compared to my 30 year old Hogan Radials.
- Awesome irons
High ball flight is what I was looking for, and I can still go low when needed. I can also hit these as far as the game improvement irons out there, and a lot more crisply. Short irons are excellent chipping around the greens. While the feel and sound is not as soft as forged, it is good enough.
- Taylormade RocketBladez Tour
Awesome irons. Most folks complain about the high ball flight, but that is exactly what I was looking for. I can still knock them down low when needed. I got the standard spec. with regular flex shaft which fit my swing perfectly. I get similar distance with these as some game improvement clubs I was looking at, including the new SpeedBladez. My strike is also so much crisper with these. They are also better around the greens as I had trouble chipping with game improvement irons. The feel is not pure forged, but it is good enough. I plan to keep these a good long while.
- I feel like I stole something!
5 years after moving from r7TPs to 2009 Burners, I began to realize that the extra off-set had hurt my ball striking. I decided to move to a player's cavity back and got fitted for Mizuno JPX-825 Pro. I loved them but not the price tag. I also like the RBZ tour but since they were discontinued, finding my specs would be tough. Lo and behold, I found them here at my PERFECT specs and 1/2 the cost of the MZs.
My first 27 holes with them have been the most consistent I have played in a year. I I feel that I can take dead aim and trust the clubs (and blame ME for mistakes). Ball flight is a little higher than I would want but distances are consistent to what I am used to. I am so glad I bought these and kept the money in my pocket.
