TaylorMade SLDR Driver

Want to know if it's TaylorMade's Longest Driver? Check out our review.

The new TaylorMade SLDR Driver is built to help you hit longer/straighter drives by promoting a high launch angle, lower spin-rate and faster ball speed. That’s what makes SLDR our longest driver ever.*

SLDR’s CG location is both low and forward, due in large part to the large, 20-gram sliding weight on the sole. That promotes a dramatic leap in distance.

In addition to the low-forward CG benefits, the SLDR weight also represents a complete reinvention of movable weight, making it more effective and easier to use. Movable weight shifts the clubhead’s CG horizontally toward either the heel, to promote a draw, or toward the toe, to promote a fade. SLDR’s sliding weight allows you to shift the CG far enough to promote a side-to-side trajectory change of up to 30 yards.

The SLDR weight slides on the track and never comes loose from the clubhead. To slide the weight to any of the 21 positions on the track, simply loosen the screw, slide the weight, then tighten the screw. It takes as little as ten seconds. And the sole is marked with the words “fade” at the toe-end of the track and “draw” at the heel-end of the track to make it clear where you should position the weight to promote the shot-shape you want.

SLDR also incorporates our Loft-sleeve Technology, which allows you to adjust the loft. You can choose from 12 positions within a range of plus-or-minus 1.5 degrees of loft change.

Outstanding!
Love this driver. It's long and forgiving. In my other bag I have a Titleist D3 which I like, but the SLDR sets up nice and is easier to hit.

Love it
Great driver. made two adjustment one draw and one loft and now it is perfect. Took my old Taylormade R5 and hit two drives on each hole and sldr was at least 20 yards further each time. I have never had a problem hitting a driver so i know the SDLR get better distance

:(
I have a pretty high swing speed and I believe the driver is too light. I have taken it to the range and have even put in a heavier shaft without results. I have not been able to even put it in the bag (do not trust in the money games we play). I wanted to upgrade because I currently use a Taylormade R580 (I know it's a dinosaur but I crush this club 290+ on average).

I am not sure what to do about the SLDR, after researching and seeing so many great reviews I was expecting the best driver ever and I just can't seem to figure it out. Duck hook Duck hook Duck hook. I will give it one more shot on the range next weekend and if I can't hit it better I will be selling it to a friend.

Excellent
First round I played with the SLDR I hit every fairway but one. Ball flight was not as high as advertised, but I did get good distance.

Good club
I got the club and immediately went out and played with it. I felt like I hit farther than my Stage 2 RD and more important, I was keeping up with guys that were 15 years younger than me!

Good Product
I got the club last week, hit the range one day, and the course on Sunday. As one of the other reviewers said, the drive is a little light. I'm using the stock stiff shaft, 10.5 degrees, but have it adjusted down to a 9 degree loft, and have a two slot draw bias on the club setting. I hit the club very well on the range. Started out well on the course, but got a little sloppy toward the end. I feel like I have to wait on the club a little. But when I do, I get great shots. I am very happy with the club, just need to spend a little more time with it on the range to feel more comfortable. I am also in the midst of a major swing change, which doesn't help the adjustment.

not for me
Club is too light for high swing speeds. Tried different shafts without results. However the fairway woods and hybrids are much heavier than the driver and the best clubs I have ever hit. Love them just not the light weight to the driver.

Goodbye consistent fade with my driver
I tried a "bunch of drivers", trying to curb my consistent fade...a couple came close, but were not consistent for me...then I tried the SLDR...Awsome !!!!!....I can't believe how perfectly straight I can hit the ball, without changing the way I grip the club or complete the set up...just hit it the way you feel comfortable and then "tune it in"...forget about inside to outside and opposite swing patterns...just hit it....price was a little steep, but what price would you pay for consistent all flight...thanks TaylorMade....
