Professional golf does not marvel at stats and projections the same way Major League Baseball does. The advanced metrics in baseball help analysts and writers dig deeper into the game, which leads to a lot of predictions being made with those numbers acting as their evidence. In golf, it just doesn't work quite the same way.

But, this time of year, during the FedEx Cup playoffs, and especially heading into the final round of the BMW Championship, you'll find a lot of projections and formulaic scenarios about who the Top 30 will be for the TOUR Championship. It doesn't happen very often in this game, which makes it a very compelling time to follow the PGA Tour.

Here is a good list of scenarios and how the third round impacted what will happen tomorrow at the BMW.

Outside of the Top 2 in the FedEx Cup Standings (1. Webb Simpson, 2. Dustin Johnson), every player in the Top 30 changed positions. The biggest jumps were John Senden (55 to 8), Geoff Ogilvy (69 to 26), Justin Rose (34 to 3), and Bill Haas (24 to 9). Bo Van Pelt, Aaron Baddeley, Charl Schwartzel, Kyle Stanley and Rory Sabbatini all fell out of the Top 30, while Martin Laird, Jim Furyk, Sendin, Ogilvy, and Rose all entered it.

Here is a full list of the projected FedEx Cup standings after round 3.

There is no doubt the final round at the BMW Championship is going to be one great day of golf. Check out tomorrow's tee times here  and don't miss it.
