Rory McIlroy isn't your average 21-year-old.
While most are out partying in college at that age, McIlroy is busy conquering Augusta National and became the youngest player to lead The Masters after Round 1.
It's not the first time McIlroy has led a major championship, though. In 2010 he shot an opening round 63 at the British Open, but fell apart on day two and finished 17 shots worse at 80. He didn't have that problem Friday, keeping his foot on the gas and finished in sole possession of first place at -10. Australian Jason Day is in second at -8.
While McIlroy has been the focal point at the halfway point of the tournament, Tiger Woods made a lot of noise on the second day and stole some of the spotlight.
Woods started the second round well off the lead at -1 and had trouble playing consistently on the first nine where he went bogey, birdie, bogey, par, par, birdie, bogey, birdie, birdie, respectively. Once he made the turn, the old Tiger took shape again. Woods made five birdies on the second nine and narrowly missed two more, finishing at -7 and T3.
One of golf's rising stars (McIlroy) and one of its greatest players of all time (Woods) at the top of the leaderboard going into the weekend is everything the PGA Tour could ask for and more. Having Fred Couples , Lee Westwood, and Ricke Fowler all T7, -5 and Sergio Garcia and Jim Furyk T12, -4 is just icing on the cake. If defending champion Phil Mickelson (T20, -2) can make a run on Saturday, the golf world just might blow up.
